Muizenberg Cape Sands

This my friends is the old Cape Sands Hotel of Muizenberg, in it's current dilapidated state of disrepair. Two points of interest;

It is going under the hammer on the 18th September and it is expected to get +- R15 000 000.00 to R20 000 000.00 in value (+- US$ 1 875 000.00 to US$ 2 500 000.00).
The current own needs to strung out in public for some abuse for letting this building go to the dogs.

One of the best sea views in the whole of Cape Town, never mind Muizenberg. Tomorrow I will show you a photograph of what the place looks like in side, it will make you sick - promise.

Interesting Muizenberg

- 1742 the Het Posthuys one of the oldest buildings in South Africa was built.
- 1795 The Battle of Muizenberg was a small but significant military affair that began and ended three months later with the (first) British occupation of the Cape.
- In 1882 the railway line, which for twenty years stopped at Wynberg, was extended to Muizenberg.
- 1895 the Muizenberg Municipality was established.
- 1902 Cecil John Rhodes bought as a holiday cottage and this was where he died.
- 1910 the library opened next to the Natale Labia
- 1911 the Muizenberg Post Office opened.
- 1913 a new railway station was built in Muizenberg.
- 1920 Boyes Drive was completed.
