Muizenberg, Cape Town : Muizenberg waves

Not after the previous photograph, this is what the cold fronts (frontal systems) generate once they move through the Cape Town - i.e. nice big waves although nothing massive.

For the bigger waves the surfers generally go more towards St. James and even Kommetjie to Scarborough.

Interesting Muizenberg

- 1742 the Het Posthuys one of the oldest buildings in South Africa was built.
- 1795 The Battle of Muizenberg was a small but significant military affair that began and ended three months later with the (first) British occupation of the Cape.
- In 1882 the railway line, which for twenty years stopped at Wynberg, was extended to Muizenberg.
- 1895 the Muizenberg Municipality was established.
- 1902 Cecil John Rhodes bought as a holiday cottage and this was where he died.
- 1910 the library opened next to the Natale Labia
- 1911 the Muizenberg Post Office opened.
- 1913 a new railway station was built in Muizenberg.
- 1920 Boyes Drive was completed.
