Dizzy Dizzy Dizzy

Playing around with my zoom lens, as I snapped the picture I zoomed out (very) quickly, this is the result. Do not know about you, but looking at it makes me feel dizzy, my eyes are getting confused - lol.

PS, nothing done to picture post production (promise).

Cheers for now

Black bearded proteas

This is a image of a rather rare species of protea "The black Bearded Protea", when up close and personal this is one awesome plant.

PS - tomorrows picture is of the same flower but taken from the topo.

Muizenberg put put

It is obviously too cold to have a game of Put Put, not a sole in sight. On closer inspection it seems that this was build way back in the 70's, in need of a dash of colour I'd say.

The Muizenberg beach

A double rainbow

A double rainbow, well I never - Have you? No post production magic on this one - promise.

I was 2 minutes away from getting soaked, lucky Pentax DSLR's come with all those waterproof seals.

Anyways, enjoy.

Me (the damp one).

Hiding from the rain

Look at what we found hiding from all this horrible weather, is she not beautiful?????? Even a little red "S" for super moth.

Anyways, some news of the recent rains down here in Cape Town;
This is the reason I have not been out and about taking photos for the last 5 days or so.

Naval Helicopter

This helicopter flies past once a week or so, carrying military big boys (I presume) between Simon's Town and I do not know.

I did tweak it in Abode Lightroom though hence the vignetting.

One of the original banks of South Africa

This is the old Standard bank building in Muizenberg, dating back a century or 2.

This is it for today, as I am still not venturing out into this weather.

It a bum life

They say drinking in the morning is a clear sign of something. But drunk, passed out and vomiting by 8:30am is something a person (above) needs a ass kicking for.

PS - his dog saw me take the picture and barked, he did not.
PSS - every car that drove by hooted.

Oh and the very last thing on this picture, he is lying outside a community center that is filled to the roof with USAID workers, not one of them helped him out. What is the point of a community center when a member of the community is in trouble on your door step, and the most they did was step over him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cold and rainy

It is way to cold and rainy to even set foot outside, so standing in my office door, camera pointing out - snap - this is the result.

Enjoy you nice warm weather in the northern hemisphere.

Pillar and wave

I was testing my Pentax K10d 's image stabilizer with this picture - never used this feature before.

Anyways; of the below that I am most impressed about is the zoom and the shutter speed.
ISO - 100
Zoom - 230mm
F-stop - f11
Shutter - 1/50 sec

I do fear though that this is all I will be doing for the next few weeks, i.e. low shutter speed shots.

High tide in Muzenberg

This is the beach at high tide - note how far up the beach the water travels.

Surfs up

With my 18-250mm lens zoomed in all the way i.e. 250mm this guys was still quite away away. Over and above the lack of quality in the picture - the surfer himself was awesome.

Just out of interest, this picture was taken closer to Kalk Bay than Muizenberg, but we are talking millimetres here. That is Simons Town (South Africa Naval head quarters) in the distant back ground.
